Riedell 166 Classic Roller Skates. Chicago Custom 2 Plates. Very Rare. Size 8
Skate Size Men's 8. I'm a female size 9.5-10 for reference. I own many riedell set ups. I'm the original and only owner of these skates. I've freestyle skated my entire life. They are one of the finest set ups ever produced by riedell. In 1977 just this boot was 450.00. All completely handmade at riedell on the bench of incredible leather. If you know skating, you know. The balance of the plates, the balanced weight keeps your wheels back on the floor after making moves completely balanced in a way you understand if you are a jam, dance and shuffle skater. You stick landings with zero stability concerns.
You slow groove without having to be aware of your skates. I roll these on Venice beach with outdoor wheels and bearings on occasion.
There will never be a skate made like this again. They are rigged with Rollerbones 101a 57mm wheels for indoor. I was diagnosed with MS and it's now not appropriate for me to skate any longer. It's the ONLY reason these are for sale. Plates are the coveted Chicago Custom 2 USA's and the boots are an 8.
They include the stainless bearing adapter sleeves to convert to any size bearing. Lace them up to speed boot level and fold the tongue down laces across the tongue and do the low lace up over and under or go high and grind. I generally let the top of the boot stay open and loose and lace only to the ankle and fold the tongue down and cross lace over the tongue and under the plate.They will roll the length of the rink straight as an arrow. The toe box is roomy, comfortable and strong. The wheels will roll for minutes unhindered as the bearings are always clean and lubed.
They have been polished regularly and babied their entire life. Polished with oxblood boot cream and black boot creams. I skate with jam plugs indoors. I will add in the full set of incredible atom pulse outdoor wheels that are pictured.
